What the flip?

‘Extreme Listening Mode’? What in God’s name is that? Well, it’s like this.

Picture the scene…….

A friend says ‘I’ve got some cracking songs for you to hear!’

He opens the tape deck/CD tray/iTunes Library and selects a song. It’s good…it’s very good! About 45 seconds in you’re wondering how a band this good and a song this good could exist without you having heard it before. Suddenly, your near ecstasy is broken by the sound of ‘if you like that, you’ll love this!’ and the track being stopped and a new one going on.

Imagine this process, 45 -90 second of songs, always stopped just at the point you are really starting to get into it, for well, pretty much coming on for 20 years now.

That my friends is Extreme Listening Mode, a pioneering technique for listening to music and making your friends want to hit you. Not for me, I listen to whole albums at a time, but he doesn’t and he never will…and now he’s here to share an accumulated lifetimes worth of musical knowledge for you. my job is to keep him in check. So wish me luck, and enjoy – hopefully you’ll find something you like!

Peace and Love

  2. Life is short. Evenings are short. Some bastard always wants to put on a tune they’ve picked. Extreme Listening Mode is the future!

  3. Haha, I need to send my best friend a link to this. He just can’t break out of extreme listening mode.

  4. It’s tougher to kick than heroin my friend!
