This weeks new releases – 9 Jan 2012

Not likely to be a week going down in music history, this. Indeed, if you were a prospector who made their living by searching out new music, you’d likely struggle to get food ion the table this week. the pickings are slim. Really thin. Kate Moss thin. Svelte. Tiny. Basically, there’s no reason to get excited.

The Maccabees release their third  album Given To The Wild today and that’s the major release. With all due respect to them – they are a cracking little live act with a few corking pop hits – that they are first up in the news says more about the rest of the acts than it does about them.

There are new albums out from the likes of Madison Violet and Charlie Haden. The FTSE remained unaltered.

In singles news, more acts you haven’t heard of release songs you’ll never hear either. Black Veil Brides release their new single ‘Fallen Angels’ , while there are also new tracks out from Various Cruelties and Tribes. Nicola Roberts, the ginger one from Girls Aloud, releases a solo record too. Yup. Sliiiiiiiiim.

Here’s ‘Pelican’, the lead-off single from the Maccabees album:

Singles released today:

Black Veil Brides – ‘Fallen Angels’
Gabrielle Alpin – ‘Home Again EP’
Nicola Roberts – Yo-Yo’
