New releases 27 September 2010

A bumper crop this week as bands gear up for the pre-Christmas rush. Yes – it’s that time already.  Deerhunter (pictured) release their new album ‘Halcyon Digest’ to much expectation. It’s joined by Mark Ronson’s new album ‘Record Collection’, as well as a disappointing new release from Neil Young (‘Le Noise’) and the return of Tricky (‘Mixed Race’).
Does anyone really care about singles these days? Well if you do, dreadfully perky indie also-rans The Wombats return with ‘Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves)’ while MGMT try to salvage the dead horse that was their last album with the release of the title track ‘Congratulations’. And with what must be their 869th single, The Charlatans are back with ‘My Foolish Pride’, which could also be the reason they are still going.
Singles released today:
The Charlatans – ‘My Foolish Pride’
Dinosaur Pile-Up – ‘Mona Lisa’
Jimmy Eat World – ‘My Best Theory’
Kylie Minogue – ‘Get Outta My Way’
Mark Ronson & The Business Intl – ‘The Bike Song’
MGMT – ‘Congratulations’
Owen Pallett – ‘A Swedish Love Story’
School Of Seven Bells – ‘Heart Is Strange’
The Wombats – ‘Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves)’
Albums released today:
Ben Folds & Nick Hornby – ‘Lonely Avenue’
Deerhunter – ‘Halcyon Digest’
Fenech-Soler – ‘Fenech-Soler’
Jimmy Eat World – ‘Invented’
Killing Joke – ‘Absolute Dissent’
Mark Ronson & The Business Intl – ‘Record Collection’
Neil Young – ‘Le Noise’
No Age – ‘Everything In Between’
Sia – ‘We Are Born’
Tricky – ‘Mixed Race’

  1. The Killing Joke album is totally astonishing, believe me. It sounds like the end of the world. In a good way.

  2. but you said that about black flag…….if everything is beginning to sound like the end of the world….it could be a sign ?

  3. did I? Yeah, so I did……ok, it sounds like a mutant sonic cathedral, then.
Great album, actually better than debut. Seriously. No filler.

  4. All killer?

  5. you betcha.

  6. trust me…..whatever you’re preconceptions of Killing Joke……this is album of the year material, honestly….
